Energy Healing Systems
What Is Omni Healing?
An introduction to Omni Healing, its origins in India, Dr Sameer Kale (Shivananda), attunements, symbols, Sanskrit mantras and the ways in which the system differs from better-known Reiki traditions.
Omni Healing in simple terms
Omni Healing is an energy-healing system associated with Dr Sameer Kale, also known as Shivananda, from India. Accounts from organisations teaching the system describe it as having emerged in 1997 and using a structured combination of attunements, Indian symbols, Sanskrit mantras and specific body positions.
Omni Healing belongs to the wider field of complementary energy work, but it has its own terminology, teaching levels and spiritual framework. It should therefore not simply be treated as another name for Reiki.
This guide looks at what the system teaches and how practitioners describe it while distinguishing those traditional and spiritual ideas from claims requiring medical or scientific evidence.
Where did Omni Healing originate?
Omni Healing is associated with India and the work of Dr Sameer Kale, who is also referred to by the spiritual name Shivananda.
Dr Kale's own account describes a spiritual journey beginning with yoga and meditation during the early 1980s, followed later by study of traditional Reiki and other Reiki systems.
The School of Omni UK describes Omni Healing as having been received or developed through Dr Kale's spiritual practice in 1997. Within the tradition itself, this development is connected with spiritual guidance that Dr Kale identifies as Shri Shiv Sai.
That explanation belongs to the spiritual history and belief framework of Omni Healing. It can be understood as part of the tradition without requiring readers to accept it as an independently verifiable event.
Dr Sameer Kale, Shivananda & the Omni systems
Dr Sameer Kale is identified by Omni organisations as the founder of the Omni Healing systems and the founder of the Omni Holistic Center in India.
His own biographical material describes a background involving yoga, meditation and Reiki before the development of the Omni systems. The name Shivananda is used as his spiritual name within Omni teaching.
Omni Healing later became the foundation for a wider group of related practices and systems taught under the Omni name.
What does Omni Healing involve?
Teaching material from the School of Omni UK describes several recognisable elements within the system.
Attunements
Students are introduced to Omni Healing through an initiation or attunement process. Within the system's own framework, this is understood as preparing the student to work with Omni energy.
Symbols
Symbols form part of Omni Healing training. Different symbols are introduced at different levels and are given particular meanings and uses within the system.
Sanskrit Mantras
Sanskrit mantras are taught alongside the symbols. They form part of the practice and distinguish Omni Healing from many forms of contemporary hands-on energy work.
Body Positions
Omni training describes a sequence of body positions or energy points used during practice. The system's teaching materials describe 22 basic positions.
What are Omni Healing attunements?
The word attunement is also familiar from Reiki, but Omni Healing has its own approach to the process.
Within Omni teaching, an attunement is an initiation into the system performed as part of training. Omni sources describe the process using the language of chakras, universal energy and earth energy.
These descriptions form part of the spiritual model used by the practice. Chakras and energy attunements should not be confused with anatomical structures or medically established mechanisms.
Omni Healing levels
Omni Healing is taught progressively, with different material being introduced as a student moves through the system.
Healer
Introductory training includes the basic practice, attunement, symbols and Sanskrit mantras. School of Omni UK describes Level I as including approaches to self-practice, partner work and distant practice.
Senior Healer
Further symbols and mantras are introduced and the spiritual framework of the system is developed in greater depth.
Master Healer
This is described as a more advanced stage for people who have already worked with the earlier levels of Omni Healing.
Is Omni Healing the same as Reiki?
No. There are similarities because both sit within the wider world of energy healing and both use concepts such as attunement and the channelling of universal energy. Dr Kale also had experience of Reiki before developing the Omni systems.
However, Omni Healing has its own origin story, teaching structure, symbols, Sanskrit mantras and methods.
| Omni Healing | Reiki |
|---|---|
| Associated with Dr Sameer Kale (Shivananda) in India | Originated in Japan and is associated with Mikao Usui |
| Omni sources date the system to 1997 | Reiki developed earlier, during the early twentieth century |
| Uses its own Indian symbols and Sanskrit mantras | Uses symbols and practices associated with its own Reiki lineages |
| Uses an Omni-specific attunement and level structure | Training and initiation depend on the Reiki tradition being taught |

Omni Healing in the UK
Omni Healing did not remain confined to India. The system has been taught internationally, including in the United Kingdom.
The School of Omni UK is based at the Malindi Natural Healing and Teaching Centre near Carmarthen in West Wales. Its founder, Stephanie Jones, states that she was initiated and attuned in Omni Healing by Dr Sameer Kale.
Dr Kale's own organisation also lists Stephanie Jones in Wales among the people he initiated as an Omni Healing Master Teacher.
This creates a particularly interesting connection between the system's origins in India and its later teaching in the UK.
What about claims made for Omni Healing?
Some Omni Healing teaching and promotional material makes strong claims about the speed, power or effects of the system. These statements should be understood as claims made within the Omni Healing tradition or by its practitioners, rather than established medical facts.
A person may find an energy-healing practice relaxing, meaningful or spiritually important, but that is different from demonstrating that the practice can diagnose, prevent or treat a medical condition.
Healing Practices does not present Omni Healing, Reiki or other energy practices as replacements for appropriate medical care, mental-health support, diagnosis or treatment.
What might someone want to know before learning Omni Healing?
Anyone considering a course or session may find it useful to ask straightforward questions before committing.
- Who trained the practitioner or teacher?
- Which Omni Healing level are they qualified to teach or practise?
- What does the session or course actually involve?
- Will physical touch be used?
- How are consent and personal boundaries handled?
- What symbols, mantras or practices will be taught?
- Are health claims being made that go beyond a complementary wellbeing practice?
- What support is available after an attunement or training course?
Omni Healing, spirituality and personal belief
Omni Healing contains an explicitly spiritual framework. Ideas about universal energy, chakras, attunement and spiritual guidance are important parts of the way the system is explained by its teachers.
Readers do not need to treat every spiritual explanation as objective fact in order to learn about the tradition. It is possible to understand what practitioners believe, how the system developed and what happens during training while maintaining a distinction between belief, personal experience and established evidence.
That same approach is used throughout Healing Practices when exploring shamanic practices, crystal healing and other experiential traditions.
Who is Dr Sameer Kale?
Dr Sameer Kale, known within the Omni tradition as Shivananda, is the Indian teacher associated with the development of Omni Healing and the wider family of Omni systems.
Material published by the Omni Holistic Center describes his early involvement with yoga and meditation, followed by Reiki study in the 1990s and the later development of his own systems.
He founded the Omni Holistic Center in India, and Omni organisations credit him with teaching students and practitioners in India and internationally.
